Anyone else think this looks great, would be great, and is overall incredible? Maybe with a sticker on the back for the Jeep people that says “Have you seen the Starbucks around here?”

If I can ever afford to do it(basically if I ever graduate college) I might not do the sticker but at least I would have a response to them. I definitely want my Japanese Front Plate, maybe Oppo japan or State of Tennessee Sticker and then a nice looking University of Tennessee Power ‘T”

Haha we’ll see. As a Jeep owner what would be your response seeing a nice looking GX on the trials?

but ehh. lets just be clear. the wrangler part of my name isnt a jeep reference. I dont own and never have owned a jeep. it was drawn from K-rolls porsche tamer name, but instead of SV tamer, i went with SV wrangler.

Oppo names(except mine) seem to be so cryptic haha. My dads current trail runner is a ‘75 FJ40. If it tells you how long he’s had it, the fold down rear seats are in the storage at his shop and he has a bench seat in there because my car seat wouldn’t work on them. 21 years and another kid later has never gotten around to putting them back. I figured a GX would be the perfect vehicle for me in the south/ every where I want to go off road. heat(!!!), A/C(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don’t know how hot it gets her eunless you live here), nice radio, comfortable, all the options, the best engine money can buy, etc.

When they were new, they were driven exclusively by prissy square-ass brand whore suburban fuckwads, who always drove either extremely aggressively, or aggressively slowly, never in between. Combined with their super-tall height, this led me to hate them so, so much.
Now that they’re old and depreciated, I appreciate them as a nicer alternative to a 4Runner. I actually thought about getting one a year and change ago, but the cost of repairing the air suspension if/when it fails scared me away.
So...I bought an oh-so-reliable (jk lol) Grand Cherokee instead.

LOLOL you done goofed. with the GC. My parents shop is in the richest(adjusted for cost of living) county in the country and they specialize in Lexus/Toyota and GX are still driven by the same people because they haven’t broken enough for them to sell them. The first change to be made is a set of 33/35" tires to go with the Old Man Emu Conversion and Lift Kit for somewhere between $300-400.

For the most part it’s just been little maintenance items and such here and there. I’ve spent some money on replacing things but it’s 10 years old with 120k miles, stuff will need replacing.
I picked my GC because it has Quadra-Drive, where all 3 diffs are eLSDs. Which is totally overkill for my on-road snowy driving, and only comes with the gas-sucking Hemi, but I get to laugh about driving over big piles of snow left over by the plow.

Yeah I understand. I will warn you ahead of time even though you probably already know, We keep metrics of all of our repair orders and Jeep/Dodge have the highest dollar amount per repair order of cars we commonly service except FJ40's which don’t come in often, but the house gets replaced on them when they do well because the youngest ones are almost twice as old as I am.

I know, trust me, I know, that’s why I’m joking about it being reliable. ;)
Who knows how long I keep it, but I’m keeping records of all the repairs I put into it, so when I flip it, I can get as much for it as possible.
Old Jeeps don’t really depreciate all that much here in Wisconsin in spite of their shitty reliability.

That’s a great idea. At least it’s not a older Toyota. They rust worse then anything. We’ve welded pieces of 1/2 steel to frames of T100/pickups because of rust. Up north I imagine they would look like the top gear Toyota.

It’s like a driving a more comfortable 4Runner. So many things are so good about this truck.

I was chatting with someone the other day building one up just like this. I guess its a little tricky to get the front bar on but for the most part its 4runner all the way. great trucks.

Yeah from what I’ve read you can get a 4runner front bumper and cut, build your own, or even order a Prado bumper from across the pond. AS long as I can hit stuff with it and be fine/fit a Japanese plate on the front I’m good. Everything else shouldn’t be too hard either. Even the air to spring kit isn’t that bad. Plus the 2uz is tied for my favorite engine ever with the 1uz.

The prado bumpers don’t quite fit and neither do the 4runner bumpers, but its not a ton of fab work to get them to work. its not as plug and play as some but its a great rig

Thats what I was saying by cut, the fenders need a slight mod to fit but the one I have in the picture looks great, I just have always thought the ARB logo looks cheap on such a peice of steel.

yeah, I guess its more than a cut to fit, the guy I talked to said they had to re fabricate the mounts to get the ARB one to fit. Worthwhile I think but there is metal work involved.

If I built one the plan would be 4"ish lift,33-35 maybe more BFG Mus Terrains KM2's, Front bumper w/winch, Heavy Rear Bumper w/winch (some people forget the rear bumper often takes more hits then the front), Safari rack w/tent, refrigerator and tool rack in back, some nice skid bars, and then if possible a bar accross the top of the frame to help skod it accross when leaning into a tree(This wouldnt just be basic overland, also a full off road rig.

Why don’t Prado bumpers fit? Aren’t they practically the same car?

Practically, but there are a few differences that make the difference from what I’m told
